BASR’s CBR Program Launches a Capacity Building Program for a New CBR Team PDF Print E-mail

 

BASR’s CBR program launched a comprehensive capacity building program targeting 15 new CBR workers from Bethlehem and Hebron districts for Promoting and protecting the rights of persons with disability and meeting their emerging needs in local communities using advocacy and empowerment strategies. The program is mainly conducted by BASR’s multi-disciplinary team / trainers.

The program encompasses a series of trainings including such topics as CBR principles and strategies, the role of the CBR worker, the concept and models of disability, the holistic approach to rehabilitation, referral systems, the UNCRPD and national disability related laws, etc. The program will also encompass onsite training at BASR’s partner community centers as well as BASR’s rehabilitation departments, supervised by BASR’s multidisciplinary team.

Upon completion of the program, the new CBR workers will be placed to work in new catchment areas in the Bethlehem and Hebron districts to reach a larger number of marginalized persons with disabilities. They will be integrated within the local authorities in those areas as part of their social responsibility towards disability and persons with disabilities. These CBR workers will be actively engaged in raising awareness of the families living in marginalized areas, lobbying decision makers to implement the provisions of the UN Convention on the rights of persons with disabilities, in addition to their regular follow up of people with disabilities and educating their families in their local communities.
