Series of Training Sessions on “Managerial and Organizational skills” Organized by BASR’s CBR Program PDF Print E-mail

As part of empowerment and capacity building program, supported by CBM and supervised by Partners in Creative Solutions, BASR’s CBR team organized a series of 6 5-day training sessions throughout 30 days for 150 training hours, in Bethlehem and Hebron about “Managerial and Organizational skills”, targeting 67 participants, included 50 persons with disabilities, whom are members in self help groups, and 17 members and staff of local authorities.

Each training session tackled such issues as self-assessment and capacity of persuasion, strategic planning and project cycling management, as well as framework and organizational structure of institutions. Those issues were raised through lectures, practical exercises and work in groups, which offered all the participants the opportunity to realize the environmental and institutional barriers, as well as trends of society that deprive persons with disabilities of access to their basic rights.

At the end of each session participants set a number of recommendations and action plans to raise awareness and advocate decision makers in local authorities towards the inclusion of persons with disabilities in their communities.

Such trainings aim at building up independent advocacy groups capable of setting concrete projects for supporting disability issues.
