People with Disabilities’ Right to Political Participation PDF Print E-mail

BASR’s CBR program conducted two trainings about “the right of people with disabilities’ to political participation”, one in Bethlehem and another in Hebron. These trainings came prior to the local municipality elections and targeted supervisors working with the central elections committees in both districts. These trainings were organized after meeting and coordinating with the national commission for the rights of people with disabilities and with the Central Election commission which welcomed such trainings as they will have positive implications for clarifying the practices and mechanisms followed to create transparent, fair and democratic elections and preserve each person’s right to participation.

More than 40 persons took part in the training and stressed the importance of treating voters equally without any discrimination in addition to providing the necessary support to enable them to exercise their right.

This training is part of the series of trainings offered by BASR’s CBR program to families of people with disabilities, civil society organizations, government bodies, councils, municipalities and media personnel.
