A delegation from the representative office of the UAE visits BASR PDF Print E-mail

 

BASR received a delegation from the representative office of the United Arab Emirates at the Palestinian National Authority, encompassing Mr. Ahmed Mohammed Al Tenaiji head of the Representative Office and the Human Appeal International Commissioner Mr. Ibrahim Rashid.

The delegation visited BASR to learn more about the ongoing services and programs and explore ways of future mutual cooperation. Edmund Shehadeh, General Director of BASR, gave a detailed presentation on the services and programs BASR provides to the Palestinian population particularly people with disabilities, adopting the human rights and inclusive development based approaches.


Mr Shehadeh highlighted the importance of working with the local and national authorities to assume their share of social responsibility towards people with disabilities and promoting their full inclusion and participation in education, employment and other aspects of life. He also referred to positive models that have been applied with each of the municipalities of Tqou in the Bethlehem district and Dura in the Hebron district. Mr. Shehadeh explained that BASR, among other future initiatives, plans to set up a teaching hospital to train doctors in order to meet the emerging health needs of the Palestinian population and reduce the number of medical referrals to Israel or abroad.


In turn, Mr. Ahmed Al Tenaiji thanked BASR for the great efforts made in serving the Palestinian people. Mr. Tenaiji stressed the importance of the cooperation and coordination between the public sector and civil society institutions and highlighted the importance of effort integration and synergy in order to provide quality services to Palestinians.
