Palestinian Child Day Celebration and Children’s Art Exhibition Opening at Ghirass PDF Print E-mail


Ghirass Center celebrated the Palestinian Child Day at Al Feneiq Hall, with 250 children and parents attending the celebration. BASR’s management and Board of Trustees were also in attendance at the event which was opened by a speech by two female children, members of Ghirass Center, Hizar Alshami and Tabaruk Khlayel. Ms. Ibtisam Ilzghayyer, Ghirass Cultural Center’s Director, welcomed the audience and highlighted the importance of providing children with space and a platform for their creativity to blossom despite the hardships that Palestinian people are going through. Hakaya Folk Dancing Group performed one of their exceptional dances followed by a music performance and then prize-giving to children who have read 50 books or more over the past weeks to encourage other children to make reading a daily habit.


To celebrate the Palestinian Child Day Ghirass also organized a children’s art gallery at the center. Mr. Abdul Fattah Hamayel, Governor of Bethlehem and Mr Rudolf Rogg, GTZ Country Director opened the gallery and spoke of the extraordinary talent the children showed in the drawings but also spoke of the difficulties they face living under Israeli occupation. Hundreds of children participated in this activity under the guidance of the art teacher Akram Abu Alia.
