Ghirass Cultural Center resumes its Reading Campaign “Born to read/ read to me” for the prevention and early intervention of reading difficulties in young children

Ghirass Cultural Center resumes its Reading Campaign “Born to read/ read to me” for the prevention and early intervention of reading difficulties in young children. Ghirass Center started this reading campaign through outreach services in four locations in the Bethlehem district; and at present, the Center is working with kindergartens, schools and special education centers in ten different villages in the surroundings of Bethlehem.

The aim of the reading campaign is to raise awareness about the importance of reading, starting from an early age. It encourages mothers to start reading to their children from an early age, since reading is an important basis for academic success in school and can prevent learning difficulties.  It focuses on developing prerequisite readiness (preacademic) skills of children, ages 0-6 years, and enhancing their optimal development and presents different examples which children’s mothers can implement in their daily routine. The involvement and interaction with children’s parents is very essential for Ghirass Center.
