Parents committee of children with vision impairment meets again PDF Print E-mail

 

Parents committee of children with vision impairment, formed at the parents’ meeting at BASR late Nov. 2011, held their first meeting as a parents’ committee to start planning the next steps.

The eleven volunteer members of the committee met at BASR and decided that the committee work on the official registration procedures as a “Parents of Children with Vision Impairment Association” representing parents of children with vision impairment all over the West Bank.

Upon setting the goals and objectives of the association by the committee members, S.S, a volunteer lawyer, is currently working on formulating the Association statutes and following up the registration procedures. The objectives of the Association include:

· To provide psychosocial support to parents of children with vision impairment and their children.

· To intensify and join efforts for the advancement of services rendered to people with vision impairment

· To advocate for the rights of people with vision impairment at all levels and develop ways and means to claim those rights.

· To create plans and implement projects that serve people with vision impairment

· To monitor the services offered to people with vision impairment and push towards the upgrading and improvement of the quality of those services

· To develop plans and programs to achieve the principle of full inclusion of people with vision impairment into society and work on the implementation of those plans in coordination with the relevant authorities

· To raise awareness in society about the importance of early intervention.

· To cooperate with governmental institutions, civil society and international organizations working in the field of vision impairment in order to achieve the objectives of the Association
