First training for the visually impaired concluded at BASR PDF Print E-mail

 

Bethlehem Arab Society for Rehabilitation in collaboration with the of Finnish Federation of the Visually Impaired and in coordination with the Bethlehem Sports Club for the Disabled, concluded the first session of the training series that aims at building and developing the skills of persons with visual disabilities to raise disability issues and to demand their rights. The course included topics related to: human rights approach to disability, an introduction to the rights and laws related to disability, Palestinian laws and international laws related to persons with disabilities, and the ways people with disabilities can make use of these laws. 

Fifty people with visual disability from Ramallah, Bethlehem, Nablus, Jenin and Tulkarm participated in the training. At the end of the course, participants emphasized the importance of developing mechanisms for promoting persons with disabilities’ rights and working on pressuring the government to ensure the provision of the Palestinian law, in favor of the people with disabilities, meant to ensure the practice of their rights in education, work, and social services.
